The Tokyo Yuzen Institute offers classes where you can learn various traditional Japanese dyeing techniques, primarily focusing on Yuzen dyeing.
In particular, hand-painted Yuzen dyeing was devised during the Genroku era (1688-1704) and is still used today in traditional items such as patterned kimonos.
The Tokyo Yuzen Institute’s workshops offer activities that allow tourists and guests to experience traditional Japanese dyeing. The workshops last approximately 5 hours, and you can take your completed work home the same day.
A dyeing experience will surely be a memorable moment during your trip to Japan. We sincerely look forward to your participation.
